What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is the best way to ensure your kitchen is filled with the highest-quality local vegetables, fresh from our home to yours.  Your commitment to a “veggie share” gets you a weekly produce box that’s well worth it’s money, and our members are the financial backbone of our farm.

How does it work?

Our CSA season begins in mid-April and runs to the week before Christmas. The shares are picked up each week by you at the GRUB CSA Farm located just 3½ miles from the heart of downtown Chico. You can join at any point after the season gets underway. Once you become a member our expectation is that you stay on for the season.

Why join a CSA?

New members often find that freshly-harvested food tastes better, and they feel better because they are eating healthy food at home and saving money not eating out.

With CSA Membership, everyone wins because there are no third-parties involved—you get the best value, and you’re creating a positive impact by supporting traditional, ecological agriculture.

When is the CSA season?

CSA runs mid-April through the week before Christmas. We also offer a Winter Share option in January, February & March.

CSA Pick-Up - Wednesdays 4-6 pm at the3197 West Sacramento Ave barn

Get your box each week on Wednesday from 4-6 PM at the back barn down the driveway on 3197 West Sacramento Chico, CA 95973.

Our shares do not come pre-boxed, giving you an opportunity to pick the vegetables you want.  Bring your own bag (though we lend boxes out) and gather your share from the tables of food.  Chalk signs instruct you in how much of each item to take.  Always check the “extras” table for weekly abundance.

CSA pickup is one of the joys of membership—getting to slow down and enjoy a moment on the farm.  Take the opportunity to talk to your farmers, share some recipe ideas, or let your kids play in the fields picking black berries and exploring the farm scape..

Late Share Pick-Up

Don’t worry if you’re out of town or can’t make pick up — we’ll make you a box that you can pick up the next day (the sooner you pick up, the fresher your box stays).  Or, you can send a friend to get your share.

How big is my share?

The size of the share will increase with the bounty of the season. Starting smaller early in the season, growing as the season progresses, and tapering off a bit towards the end; but generally if you cook at home often, one share should meet most of the seasonal vegetable needs for two to three adults or a family of four for the majority of the season. Some members find it beneficial to split a share, usually with a friend, neighbor, relative, or co-worker. There are many different ways to go about sharing a share with more than one household, contact us for ideas, or if you are having trouble finding a share partner.
